calculation issue of running speed

At around the 8min mark you see two players running side by side

The player on the left is winning the match inside the game but he is making fast tiny movements, whereas the player on the right is making slower but bigger whole body movements. The game should ideally detect whether someone is using a large range of motion as opposed to a smaller range, taking both speed and motion into consideration.
This seems to be an issue with most motion control games. If the team at EA can figure this out for the next version that'd be great, seeing that the Active series is meant to emulate a serious workout.
